I'm back and full of ideas. Thought I'd spend time outlining the highlights of my trip to OK. We started out on Tuesday, July 6 for Grapevine, TX where we spent a pleasant evening visiting with my cousin. The next morning, we got up bright and early and headed fo Lawton, OK where I wanted to see historic Fort Sill. We got there around noon and went to the Comanche National Museum and Cultural Center first. This museum had lovely displays to inspire any writer. Check out the Cook's wagon.
After a quick lunch, we visited Fort Sill. Since this is a real working military base, we had to give them ID and check in with the guard. Not all the buildings in the museum quadrant were opened but we visited the ones that were. The building I found most interesting was the jailhouse as the doors to the cells were only about a foot and a half wide.
We cut our time short at the fort as it was so unbearably hot, but we saw what we came to see and left around 2:30 to venture onward to Woodward, OK.
I'll post more later. My camera died after Fort Sill so I had to take photos with my mom's camera which I downloaded to the laptop. I'll have to post from it.
